Every day we receive phone calls asking, “Will my insurance work for rehab?” Or “What insurance can I use for rehab?” When it comes to covering expenses related to treatment, there are several rehab insurance options near me offered to people to combat their addictions. Both public and private health insurance plans commonly cover part, if not all, of the expenses for outpatient or inpatient treatment. Whether the addiction is to alcohol, drugs or even prescription pills, many insurance companies will assist in paying for treatment.

Currently, insurance firms have come to recognize that addiction is a curable disorder. Insurers take accountability for covering the cost of treatment because they understand the unpleasant effects of chronic, compulsive drug and alcohol use. Without treatment, addicts may deal with long-term psychiatric or physical concerns down the road. Many companies are currently obligated to pay for behavioral and mental health conditions, including addiction. They oftentimes deal with covering addiction in the same way they do with cancer or heart disease. This recent step forward is a positive movement toward helping millions across our country who need help obtaining sobriety.

When you need help figuring out if your treatment program will be covered according to your drug and alcohol rehabilitation insurance options near me, you have options. You can call your insurance policy directly and speak to them about it. Or you can reach out to the facility you’d like to choose for treatment and ask them.  It is understandable to be concerned about the costs of addiction rehabilitation because it is typically not an inexpensive undertaking. It is definitely worth it in the long run though. You cannot put a price tag on health and sobriety.

However, if you don’t have insurance or coverage on the list above, you may be relieved to learn there are multiple ways of paying for rehab. Some options for covering your treatment include the following:

Sliding scale: You may have to make a few phone calls or do some research to find a facility that offers reduced pricing based on your income level. The less annual income you make, the more affordable the cost of your treatment program will be.

Payment plans: Again, by calling around to different facilities in your area, you may locate a program that will allow you to pay off treatment in monthly installments.

Rehab scholarships or grants: Individual rehabilitation programs, along with larger government organizations, such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), may provide scholarships or grants to assist with paying for treatment.

Credit cards: If you have decent credit and can obtain a card with a generous limit, you may be able to pay for treatment using credit cards. Some cards offer zero interest or low interest for a certain length of time, which gives you a chance to pay off your balance without added costs.

Loans: Your health, wellbeing, and sobriety are important. If you’re struggling for a way to pay for treatment, consider taking out a private loan. This can be done in a variety of ways including choosing either home equity or a personal loan. Friends or family are options as well if they’re willing to help you in your treatment goals

Crowdfunding: In 2020 there are multiple websites, such as GoFundMe and YouHelp, which will allow you to raise money from donors. If you’re willing to go public with your need for help, you can cross-promote on your Facebook or Instagram pages. If you’d like to remain private, anonymous options are available when it comes to crowdfunding as well. But it’s a great way to raise money for your treatment plan.

When it comes to paying for either in-patient or outpatient treatment, there are various addiction insurance options near me that can help. It’s imperative to call your current provider to find out the steps that need to be taken before treatment can begin. Ask about your out-of-pocket costs and how much will be covered before selecting your rehab facility. Also inquire about whether or not a detox program is covered, and how many total days of treatment are covered.
